Julia Spenadel (she/her) is originally from Maryland and has made Colorado home since 2018. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy from Naropa University in 2025, and is a practicing art therapist and clinical mental health counselor.
Julia’s path began in the world of makeup artistry, where she helped people express themselves on the outside. Over time, she felt a deeper pull toward supporting people internally, guiding them toward a sense of comfort, and authenticity within their own minds and bodies. That calling led her to art therapy, a field that blends together creativity, neuroscience, and compassionate presence.
Julia is especially attuned to people who feel out of step with the world or who have spent years trying to make their neurodivergent brains fit environments that weren’t designed for them. Many of her clients live with ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, or chronic overwhelm. In her sessions, clients might talk, make art, or notice the cues of their nervous system. Through imagery, materials, and symbolic expression, she helps clients access experiences that may be difficult to capture verbally while supporting nervous system regulation and emotional clarity.
Julia practices from a trauma-informed, expressive, and relational lens, drawing on art therapy, parts work, somatic awareness, and cognitive tools. Her lived experience with ADHD and anxiety informs her work. She knows first-hand how traditional talk-only approaches can feel overwhelming or inaccessible. Because of that, she is committed to offering therapy that honors the way each brain processes information uniquely.
